Brew your best year!

I'm a notebook and planner addict. Despite the technology nowadays; you can put your schedules on your phone or tablet, I'm still very old school. I like writing with a pen. My notebook addiction has been going on since I was a little girl. But the planner started when I was in first year college. I cannot stress enough how much I always feel the need to get a new journal. It takes a lot of effort for me to restrain myself. But combine a planner with my favourite coffee shop, ah! That's a whole different thing!:) I will definitely put effort in getting one. :)

Clearly, Christmas is almost here and aside from that joyous occasion, this is also the time to get excited, because 2015 planners are beginning to come out! Just like my favourite, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. They officially launched their The Giving Journal 2015 last Thursday.

Want to see the CBTL 2015 planner? :) READ MORE >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

One of Real Life Foundation x CBTL's former scholar. He's now an 'alumni' and a certified ENGINEER!
Every year, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf releases its coveted Giving Journal around a holiday campaign benefiting the Real Life Foundation, and every year, the company makes it a goal to create something better than the last, constantly evolving the journal to share the company's passion for GIVING, SHARING, and COMMUNITY.

For 2015, the theme of the Giving Journal is to provide the inspiration to create OVERFLOWS in one's life. CBTL desires for all of us to thrive and live in abundance when it comes to developing personal fulfilment & growth, strong relationships, and a joyful spirituality. To give to others, one must first have something to give, and the Giving Journal empowers us to become the best versions of ourselves.

CBTL partnering with the Real Life Foundation has helped many poor but deserving scholars achieve their goal in life. :) So, now when you buy a cup of coffee at CBTL, you can already imagine helping someone finish his/her studies. This planner is a great reminder that we can make a huge difference with even the smallest effort. It is such a great cause!

The Giving Journals come in four different colours; Purple, Green, Brown and Orange and each representing a signature drink from CBTL. :) You need to collect all 12 stamps and they can be claimed beginning October 25, 2014 to January 11, 2015. :)

And since this was a planner launch, CBTL prepared a quirky bookmark making afternoon for us as well! I was surprised about this activity cos our teacher was none other than Beb Ana! Woot!

This is the first time I ever tried wire art and it's not as easy as it looks! All of us even appreciated Ana all the more! It's definitely a work of heart! Kudos to your hardworking hands, beb! hehe!

Everyone hard at work! Well, actually competitive lang! haha!

Best in couple bookmark! KESO!!!:)  SEPH& TRICE :)

We had to make a word/ symbol that we wanted to represent our 2015 and this was mine. I know it's cliche, but everyone needs it to get by the year. A little optimism never hurt anybody. :)

Enjoy the months left with 2014 and come 2015, let's brew our best year!:)

68 days left till Christmas and only 7 days left till you can start collecting stamps for your CBTL planner! Yey!!:)

SUITEBLANCO, SFERA & UNO DE 50 FOR PHILIPPINE FASHION WEEK +GIVEAWAY!

$

Like what I mentioned on my Facebook page status the other day; PHILIPPINE FASHION WEEK IS UPON US! And I am just ecstatic to watch this season's Fall Winter 2014 collection, because three of my favourite European brands have joined in the the much awaited time for all fashionistas here in Manila. :) Are you feeling my excitement as too??

Well, without anymore delay. The first among the three brands is none other than….

Suiteblanco

Spanish fashion label Suiteblanco ups its fashion creed and takes shopping to the next level by bringing  its A game to the runway. The brand punctuates its Fall Winter 2014 collection with its prizewinning, trend-led key pieces: Rock N' Roll Denim, Safari Standouts, B&W Binary and East-Meets-West Eclecticism

Suiteblanco has been a part of my closet since it opened its doors last year here in the Philippines. I still have all the clothes that I bought from their SM Aura store (See my post about the store launch HERE). Such staple and standout pieces that I never get tired of using. :)

Stores located at: Level 1, SM Aura Premier | Ground Floor, SM MoA | 2nd floor, SM Makati

(Sfera)

The popular Fashion brand from Spain; (Sfera) may be a newcomer to our country, but it's without a doubt that their collection reveals classic, stylish and elegant looks for the runway. Manila expert shoppers will surely take note of the sophisticated, quality, and elegant clothing seen first-hand in Philippine Fashion Week.

It'll be my first time to see (Sfera), so I'm really looking forward to see their Fall/Winter collection. I heard they're not only going for black and grey, but green, red, blue and khaki colours. :)

Oh and don't worry, guys! (Sfera) has a Men's line to debut!;)

Located at the 2/F of SM Makati

Uno de 50

The third and last brand that will be completing this is one of my favourite accessory line- Uno de 50!:)

The autumn-winter collection of Uno de 50 is inspired by the sensations experienced by the human being on coming into contact with nature in its purest form.

The Connection Collection falls into 4 lines. The first of these based on the human connection on coming into contact with the winter forest. The jewels come in shapes to be found in the forest in the winter season: drops of frozen dew, stalactites or pebble stones, as well as other natural elements such as insects or berries and the seeds that precede the arrival of the first snowfalls.

The sense of serenity and reflection we feel on coming into contact with life is portrayed in these new products from Uno de 50.

Stores Located at 2nd level, SM Aura Premier | 3rd Level, SM Megamall

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm sure like all their other collections, this will be yet again an amazing one!:) But you'll see them first at Philippine Fashion Week this October 24, 2014 at 9PM!:)

Pure Japanese Denim

I think when it comes to basics, denim will always and forever be on everyones top list. That's why it's good to invest in jeans that are not only stylish, comfortable but also has great attention to detail and commitment to quality. And who else knows about quality better than the Japanese, right?:)

The arrival of BOBSON, the pure Japanese denim brand, signals a fresh crisp, modern, and clean approach to denim that should excite every jean-loving Pinoy fashionista.

BOBSON brings with it 54 years of solid denim heritage that gives it the edge in knowing the market's needs and creating jeans of superior craftsmanship. Today, the brand continues its legacy of finely-crafted jeans as it expands its market in the Philippines.

Last Thursday, BOBSON officially launched at Sakura by Edo San. The perfect place if you ask me, because it totally matches the heritage of BOBSON and we were served really yummy Japanese food!:)

We had the pleasure of meeting the owner of the restaurant, Edo San. :) He showed us the art of making sushi. He did it in such a fast pace! Less than a minute, he already got two made!

Proven by the intricacy of Japanese crafts such as sushi, ikebana, and origami, each BOBSON denim creation is constructed, with care and precision that allows it to offer wardrobe must-haves of unparalleled quality, comfort, and style.

Each BOBSON denim creation is crafted with the Denim DNA as testament to its superior Japanese craftsmanship. It has 8 Denim DNA…

Left hand twill > Softer way of weave, more comfortable
Clean open out seam finish > Neat, clean finish
J-insert loop > Stronger construction
Authentic Japanese extended waistband > Stronger hold and durability
12 stitches per inch > More refined look
Hang loops > Keep jeans straight
Pewter rivet buttons > More durable
Crest-shaped back pocket design > Japanese heritage and craftsmanship

I'm quite impressed with BOBSON's denim and I can't wait to get my hands on a pair or two. ;)

BOBSON is available at SM Department store Makati, Mall of Asia, Megamall, North Edsa, Manila, BF Paranaque, Cubao, Fairview, Las Pinas South Mall, Sta. Rosa, Rosalesm Pampanga, Cauayan, Cebu, Bacolod, Davao, Cagayan De Oro, Aura, Delgado, Consolacion, Masinag

Rep Phils to stage ‘Scrooge’ musical this Christmas

This Christmas, Repertory Philippines is reviving a classic to remind everyone of the true holiday spirit. Scrooge: A Family Musical will inspire viewers from November 21 to December 14 at the Onstage, Greenbelt 1 in Makati City, capping off Repertory’s 2014 calendar.

“I feel that in this generation, the spirit of Christmas is disappearing. It has become commercialized when we should be celebrating the birth of Christ. The spirit of Christmas, the spirit of giving, loving, and generosity are all embodied in Scrooge more than any other script,” said director Baby Barredo, also Repertory Philippines’ co-founder and artistic director.

The timeless tale A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is a staple in the theater scene during the Yuletide season, endearing families with the same message of sharing and forgiveness. Repertory Philippines has brought the story to stage for three times—all box office hits using different adaptations of the story. The fourth staging takes a cue from the book, music, and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse.

Miguel Faustman as Ebenezer Scrooge

The story follows the miserly life of banker Ebenezer Scrooge and his journey towards realizing the true spirit of Christmas through three ghosts: that of his past, present, and future. “Some people relate to the work-earn money thinking Scrooge has. In past productions, people approached us backstage, saying how guilty they felt. The story is an eye-opener. It’s the perfect Christmas show,” said Miguel Faustmann, who is playing the title role.

Faustmann expressed a mix of excitement and nervousness for his part. “My parents used to take me to Scrooge plays as a kid, and I dreamt of playing the role. Now I finally get to do it,” he said. In the past stagings, Faustmann has essayed the roles of Jacob Marley, Scrooge’s deceased business partner, and Fezziwig, Scrooge’s jolly old boss. Alternating for the main character and also in his debut rendition of Scrooge is Chinggoy Alonzo.

With a nostalgic ensemble of 19th century London scenery and music, enlivened by a talented local cast, Scrooge is poised to bring out the holiday cheers out of every spectator — even the grumpiest one crying out, "Bah, humbug!

For tickets or inquiries, visit www.repertoryphilippines.com or call Ticketworld at 891.9999. Check out Repertory Philippines on Facebook for updates. #RepPhilsScrooge

Project Pie @ Valero!

Project Pie has been around for quite sometime now, but believe it or not, I only got to try it when they finally opened up a branch near our place, which is at Blue Bay Macapagal. I was so ecstatic when I saw it while driving to SM Mall of Asia. I was like, "FINALLY!!!" :) I must say, my first experience wasn't my last because I've become a regular customer at the Macapagal branch. But recently, they opened up a branch at Park Square and now Valero street!:)

I think Valero is one of the perfect places to have Project Pie, simply because it's near offices. This is the best place to unwind and relax during your break. The interior is fuss free and the subtle quirkiness will surely make you smile or spark up a conversation with your friends.

China Mist!! ^_^

Aside from being able to make my own pizza when I'm at Project Pie, I also enjoy their fast service and refillable drinks. I especially love their China Mist in Traditional Sweet. Pa-healthy!;)

Ordering is always a breeze at Project Pie, because of their friendly and informative staff. This is one restaurant I never really have trouble with when it comes to spelling or pronouncing my name. :) I'm glad they're very considerate with that haha!:)

Who knew you could climb the stairway to heave at Project Pie???

Whoopsie!!>_< I guess not! Nevertheless, my tummy did have a taste of heaven, because of I got to make my favourite pizza! That's as close as it gets!

What I also like about the Valero branch is that it has more quirk than the other branches. Oh and can you spot your favourite quote on the wall? Another of my favourite part of their interior.

Again, the quirk and humour is never in short supply here at Project Pie. What's not to love??

Ana, Athan and I went for the Make Your Own Pizza. :)

My all time fave! Incase you wanna try it, it's White pizza with tomatoes, green bell pepper, anchovies, mozzarella, gorgonzola and parmesan!:) Yum!

Don't forget the hashtag!

With Seph, Trice and Ana :)

Project Pie will always definitely be my go-to place when it comes to chill dining with friends and the hubby.  ^_^ Do visit them at their new branch at Valero!:)

There's a new watch store in town and if you've been to SM Megamall lately, you might have already spotted WSI a.k.a. Watch Style Insider. :) WSI is a new retail destination where WATCH STYLE is everything. A place where you'll find the latest fashion watch styles and the world's most loved brands- including Fossil, Michael Kors, Emporio Armani, Diesel, DKNY, Skagen, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Armani Exchange, and Karl Lagerfeld.

This is definitely the shop that will meet your needs when it comes to the best watch that will fit your personality and style. :)

WSI provides a compelling and inspiring shopping experience for guests by curating the world's best watch brands. The store features a clean, modern aesthetic with boutique-style displays that make shopping for a watch a personal and engaging experience. It is not just the environment that makes WSI unique: each store is staffed with experts, to ensure guests have access to both the latest fashion trends and technical product information. WSI stores are located throughout North America, Europe and Asia.

If you love watches then you've come to the right place.

"At WSI, we believe in wearing at least one watch every day. We believe that every watch deserves an outfit. We believe that time is what you make it."

At the officially launch of WSI, we were given quite a lot of facts about their store and watches. We actually had to remember them cos right after, we had to answer this sheet of paper and when we get everything correct, we could claim our prize!:) It was so fun!

All of us got really nice watches from WSI, while two people got an empty bag, because they actually won Php 20,000 Gift Certificate and can shop for whatever watch they wanted! Lucky!! If I won, I would probably get a gold Michael Kors or Marc by Marc Jacobs.  ^_^

These are a few of the watches in their store that I was able to capture.

So many gorgeous pieces if you ask me!:) If only I could really wear a different watch every single day, I would!:) For now, I'm happy with my growing collection!

Thank you, WSI for my new Armani Exchange AX 1247 Colorflash watch!:)

Join the watch style revolution with WSI!:)

WSI is already open at SM Megamall, Ayala Center Cebu and soon to open at Trinoma Mall!

Jollitown!

Last Sunday, I went over to SMX Mall of Asia to experience a really fun and big event hosted by none other than Jollibee!:) If you're wondering why did they come up with such an event, well, in celebration of National Children's Month, they made Jollitown come to life in Manila!:)

This day was perfect for the whole family. Unfortunately, my kids weren't around during this day cos they were at their grandmother's place. I'm sure if they were around, the first thing they'd utter is "WOW!!!" And they'll be so ecstatic! But since they couldn't make it, my best friend Nickie and I relived our childhood days instead and enjoyed the cool stuff inside the Jollitown event!

As expected, the place was packed with so much people, especially kids! They had different play zones and giant inflatables! You could bounce inside Jollibee's Bob House or slide down the Rainbow slide or fill the town with bubbles from the Bubble Dome!:) There were so many things to do!

I think even if you're not 5 years old or 12 years old anymore, you'd still love this place. :) It surely brought out the kiddy side of me!

The ticket price for Jollibee Kids Club (JKC) members was Php 65 each, while non-JKC had to register to become a member for Php 100. :) Each ticket was inclusive of Regular Yum, a drink and loot bag for the kids. :)

We really loved the larger than life ice cream cones and art materials!^_^ So cute!!

Oh and of course, not Jollibee event would ever be complete without the special appearance of the Jollitown friends!

Look at how all the kids are so happy and giddy to see their favourite mascots!:)

The event was really fun! I highly encourage that you sign up your kids to be members of Jollibee Kids Club!:) There are so many rewards and perks to enjoy!:)

Hope you all are having a great week so far!

PhFW: FW 2014 collection of Suiteblanco, Sfera & Uno de 50!

Philippine Fashion Week has finally ended, but I'm still on PhFW high! Maybe because I badly wanted to see more shows, but time just didn't permit me. Since it was a busy weekend for me, then I had an exam last Friday and I actually missed one of the shows I was suppose to watch. Boo!:( Fortunately though, I made it on time for the last show! Whew!

The show that I was lucky enough to catch was Suiteblanco, Sfera and Uno de 50!

First up was Sfera. I actually got to see their flagship store at SM Makati and there were so many pretty stuff! I had a hard time picking out my favourites, because I wanted to fit everything in my shopping bag!^_^

Fall Winter is usually the season I have a hard time dressing up in. I'm not into dark colours. When I'm given a black outfit, that's when I start panicking! haha! True story! But seeing the outfits from Sfera last friday was just wow! I'm digging the brown/beige and black combination. :)

Next up was Uno de 50…

In my opinion, the accessories of Uno de 50 are very tasteful. You can practically wear them with any outfit; as you can see, it can be used for formal or casual wear. You can even stack them and mix and match. It's my favourite silver line of accessory to date.

Last up was Suiteblanco…

Out of the three European brands, my ultimate favourite would have to be Suiteblanco. Ever since it opened in the Philippines, I have always been a fan. I love their clothes and if this is what Fall Winter looks like- colourful and fun, then I wouldn't mind for it to be Fall Winter all year round!:)

And in case you didn't notice that wonderful gorgeous balloon skirt, I just wanted to let you know that almost every girl has dibs on that! It's love at first sight!

I really enjoyed watching all three brands strut down the runway. After the show, we had the chance to see and shop for the new collection. :) I already saw some that I fancied. But I also can't wait to make a trip to SM Aura to see more of Suiteblanco's collection heeee!^_^

Hope you guys enjoyed this season's Philippine Fashion Week!:)

How to raise a happy kid: Tip #1!

$
0
0
Being a parent or parents is never an easy task. It's the hardest job in the world, but there are a lot of reasons to be thankful for and be happy about. :) I'm blessed to have two amazing boys in my life and I'd like to share with you my five tips in raising happy kids every first monday of the month!:)

To start it off this November, my tip #1-
Support them in their smallest to biggest endeavours

When I found out that I was going to be a mother, I promised to myself that I was always going to be there for my children. I promised that I’d  be their number one fan, cheerleader and shoulder to cry on no matter what.

Fast forward to 6 years, that promise has remained true and I believe that it’s one of the reasons why my kids are continually growing up happy. :)

A good example of fulfilling my promise to them would be by always being present at my son Athan’s school activities. I take pleasure in being able to watch all of his school stuff. They’re only young for a short time and these are the times when they remember the simple joy of seeing their parents in the same crowd of eager folks filming their kids.

As for my youngest son Asher,  since he’s still only a year old, I support him by cheering  on his little achievements; being able to eat on his own, saying a new word or completing a puzzle. I make sure he feels like it means the world to me. :)

I believe the little things contribute a lot to a child’s bigger side of happiness, because they know they are loved unconditionally.

Being a parent doesn’t only stop at you giving them all their basic needs. You also have to give them your time, in order for them to feel that their achievements, whether big or small are appreciated by the people who matter to them the most a.k.a. their parents.

To get more tips on how to raise healthy and happy kids, stay tuned on my blog every first Monday of the month or you can go to https://www.facebook.com/BonakidPreSchoolPH to see more!:)

Happy week ahead, folks!

Never going black

$

0
Ever since I got my hair coloured purple, I always get good reactions from people I meet, even strangers! I also got so used to it that when people stare at me in public, I often wonder if there's something on my face that they have to stare that way, but then I suddenly remember, "Oh! It must be my hair!" Then, I no longer wonder why they even look. haha!:)) Makes me wish that my hair was really purple! Ugh! If only we could pick our hair colour when we're born, right? That would be so much fun! As of now, I have no intentions of going back to my black hair. I feel so settled with my hair right now. It's purple at first, but when it fades it actually turns to magenta haha!=P

In terms of dressing up, I think I've grown up a lot in that department. I remember when I started blogging, I always wanted to dress according to the latest trend or constantly post my OOTD. That was two years ago. Now, I usually dress according to my mood and what I'm comfortable with. And speaking of comfortable, I am crazy about loose jeans! Especially these latest one I got from Zara. I've worn them so many times that I think it might give up on me soon, but wag naman!! Favorite jeans! haha!=P

But seriously, isn't comfort dressing the best?? You feel free to move and you feel good as well. One thing I don't put aside when comfort dressing is accessorising. I love accessories too much! I can't even leave the house with my watch! With bags though, I always prefer the multi-strapped ones cos their easier to tote around.

This week has been pretty steady for me. It's the second half of the term and we're just beginning with our new lessons and come December, it's finals! Huhuhu! Wish me luck!

On another random note, I bought two new books the other day; Lullabies by Lang Leav and Landline by Rainbow Rowell. They're both best-sellers, so I can't wait to start reading them!

*Photo from Beb Ana :) *

Top: Plains & Prints
Pants: Zara
Flats: LeBunny Bleu
Bag: Baggu
Watch: Armani Exchange from WSI

So far that's it for me! I hope you all are having a good week so far. It's already hump day tomorrow! Countdown to the freakin' weekend!!

Green Fashion 2014 + Cebu Trip

$

My two day trip to Cebu was 3 weeks ago and I find myself with such an overdue post!>_< To be honest, I've been delaying this post, because I really want to put out a good entry about it. I may not have been able to tour Cebu while I was there cos I had a strict schedule to follow for work. But I still did enjoy my time and I guess it's about time that I blog about this!

So, last October, I was invited by the Aboitiz Foundation to be one of their guest judges for the 3rd year of their Green Fashion Revolution. :)

Incase you're wondering what the Aboitiz Foundation is all about, below is a brief description...

"Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. is the corporate foundation of the Aboitiz Group. Established in 1988, it addresses the social and economic development needs of marginalised members of society. It implements corporate social responsibility interventions especially in areas where Aboitiz companies are located. The foundation focuses on three program components, namely education, enterprise development, and environment."

As soon as I finished reading their invitation to me, I was so excited, because #1- I have never been to Cebu, #2- I have always wanted to go to Cebu and #3- I was really looking forward to know more about what the Green Fashion Revolution was all about. :)

Of course, I just had to say, YES!!!! ^_^

It was Bye for now Manila and HELLO CEBU!
WARNING: *Photo diary is photo heavy! hahaha!*

I rode the PAL Express plane going to Cebu and it was a good 1 hour and 15 minutes trip. I'm really thankful that Aboitiz allowed me to have one person accompany me on this trip and of course, that would be my Hubby!^_^

As soon as we landed at Mactan airport, we were greeted by Fast transit and they were to take us to our hotel. But on our way there, I couldn't help but do a little sight seeing.

Putting the jeep aside, who gets a beautiful view like that in the city nowadays??? I love how Cebu can look urban and rural at the same time! Even the Hubby was impressed!

The hotel we stayed at for two days was Raddison Blu. :) From this view, it reminds me so much of Las Vegas! Hehe! Doesn't it? Looks like one of the buildings there. It was one of the best hotels I stayed at and the service was great.

Since our room was at the 12th floor, we had a nice view of the places near the hotel. I love how their port is so neat and organized. Oh and there seemed to have been a lot of other activities going on at Cebu when I went there. Just look at the huge exterior of the pink ribbon!

After putting our bags down in our room, it was time to begin my first day at Cebu!

We first had lunch at Cafe Laguna. The food there was so yummy! Missing these two dishes!

After lunch, I had two hours to spare before the Green Fashion 2014 event, so Gersh and I went to visit his Tita Minda at her convent. Unfortunately, this is the only photo I have in the convent since she's a pink sister and isn't allowed to have pictures of her published on the internet. :( BUT! It was really great meeting her. You could visit them and send them your prayers. What they do is really admirable. They pray for the world nonstop.

Around 3:30PM, we got back to Raddison and Immediately prepared for the Green Fashion event.

What I wore to the fashion show. :) I was so happy that day, because for the first time, I got to wear my contact lenses at an event and I actually lasted the whole day wearing it. No irritation whatsoever! Yey!:)

Before the main event, we had a small Bloggers' Circle Spree and there I met new wonderful Cebu Bloggers and the AVP of Sustainabilitym Corporate Branding & Commucation, Ms. Malou Marasigan.

Ms. Malou gave us a background about what Aboitiz Foundation does and one of the things I remembered was her telling us that they plan to plant 3 million trees by 2015. Our country is really in need of more threes. I actually believe that there should be LESSER condos and more tree planting projects. I really hope Aboitiz Foundation reaches their goal. :)

We also had a nice activity care of Paul Gaston of Aboitiz. :) Paul, BTW was the one who took care of us the whole time we were at Cebu. I can't thank him enough!

Paul picking out our Sustainability Bucket List Challenge!

I thought we were suppose to make our own, so don't mind my erasure! haha! My challenge is quite hard as you can see. It's difficult to ride a bicycle around Manila. But I won't back down on this! I'm definitely putting this on my bucket list and hoping to achieve it someday! Thanks, Paul!

I also got to do a little talk about what I do in terms of blogging. I hope they learned a thing or two or something! hehe!>_<

Nice meeting you again Cebu Bloggers, Jean, Kristine, Katrina, Toni and Miong!:)

Finally! The Green Fashion Revolution 2014!

The event was held at the SM City Cebu Trade Hall. :) The place was already packed with people when I got there. I sensed a lot of school pride!:)

My view of the stage. :) To be honest, it was so hard to be a judge that day. Every school came prepared and every outfit was just so creative!

To give you a background of what the Green Fashion 2014 is…

"The activity highlights the importance of the #Rs- reduce, reuse, and recycle- as it challenged competing students from colleges and universities across Metro Cebu to create clothing, footwear and accessories that make use of recycled materials."

Participants this year are from Cebu Institute of Technology-University, Cebu Normal University, University of San Carlos, and University of the Philippines Cebu

Each school had to create a collection out of recycled materials, like old denim, tarpaulin and flour bags.

Let the fashion show begin!

Seeing all these down the runway, it's really hard to believe they were all made from recycled materials! I was in so much awe! These college kids are just so talented! And my, my, my! The models were so fierce! It's like watching Project Runway! I loved everything!

Every student from their respective colleges put out a really great show and I mean it when I say that they're all winners for me. But there will always be the one best among them and it was a tough decision!

Reviewing the scores with my fellow judges, Ms. Malou and top Cebu fashion designers

Aside from judging the Best Clothing Design, Best Accessories Design, Best Bag Design, and Best Footwear Design, we also had to choose the Best Male and Female model. Imagine having to judge 40 people who were all equally fierce! Tough!

But like I said, there will always be the best and I'd like to extend my Congratulations to the following:

Champion: UP CEBU!

Best Clothing Design-Those priceless happy faces :)

Even the trophies were made from recycled material :)
1st Runner up: CIT

2nd Runner up: USC

Best Footwear design: USC
So honoured that I got to award some of the winners as well. :)

Best Male and Female model- CIT-U

Champion: University of the Philippines
1st runner-up: Cebu Institute of Technology
2nd runner-up: University of San Carlos
Best Clothing Design: UP
Best Accessories Design: CIT-U
Best Bag Design: USC
Best Footwear Design: USC
Best Male Model: Dan Valentin D. Escasinas (CIT-U, #3)
Best Female Model: Sarah Jay Burlat (CIT-U, #10)

Again, congratulations to all the winners!:) Each school has proposed environmental intervention program for their respective adopted barangay and the winning school's barangay will also get support from Aboitiz Foundation.

That ends my first day in Cebu! So productive, right?? For my second and final day, it was composed of packing and a yummy breakfast. Our flight was early, so no time to go out and roam around Cebu anymore. :(

Gift from the Bloggers' Circle spree :) Packaging made from eco-friendly materials!:)

This is the first time I have worked with the Aboitiz Foundation and I hope this won't be the last. They have showed me that earning profit is not only their main concern; they encourage sustainable living, creativity and doing good in everything. I really admire that about them.

Thank you so much, Aboitiz Foundation for having me. Especially to Paul! You have not only made October memorable for me, but I also have learned from you. :) Till next time!

Last weekend, the family and I went to one of our favourite malls a.k.a. Greenhills. It's a great place to have your family day. Practically everything is there; dining, shopping, entertainment, beauty & wellness and other things. But what the boys love the most is the cool toy stores and as for me, I totally go crazy at the cellphone tiangge. :) I often find awesome phone cases there, so incase you're into that kinda thing as well, you can go there!:)

So, yes, our weekend was pretty chill and nothing out of the ordinary happened. It was a fun day though! This is what I wore- something laid-back from my favourite brands, but still casual chic.

Anyhoo, I haven't got anything interesting to say at the moment, so I decided to share with you, guys my current playlist on Spotify! Ever since I got an account, I've been so hooked on it. I don't have a particular genre, so hope it's not too crazy for you, guys!=P

Science Film Festival 2014

Last Tuesday, I spent my morning at The Mind Museum for the official opening of the Science Film Festival 2014. The Philippines is proudly hosting the festival for the 5th year this 2014 and this wonderful festival is organised by the Goethe-institut and its partners in 14 countries.

This year's Science Film Festival centres on the theme "Future Technologies".

The Science Film Festival 2014 was opened up by The Mind Museum's Curator, Ms. Maria Isabel Garcia.

"We are honored to host the opening of the 5th Science Film Festival in the Philippines. Like The Mind Museum, the festival is a celebration of how the arts help in making the stories of science and technology  connect with larger audiences. Organized by the Goethe Institut, this year’s theme focuses on Future Technologies. We have specially curated 20 films from the international selection for elementary, secondary, and university audiences and have woven them into our galleries and exhibits where guest-learners can view them from November 4 to December 14. Join us as we imagine a future that science has shaped with understanding and one where technologies are fashioned in the service of better lives and of a healthy, living planet."

She was then followed by the director of Goethe-Institut Philippines, Dr. Petra Raymond.

"In its 5th edition in the Philippines, the Science Film Festival showcases the theme “Future Technologies” – a logical next step from the theme “Renewable Energy” in 2013. We are very proud that our proficient local jury selected 32 movies out of 15 different countries. These especially-selected films communicate scientific concepts in an easily-digestible and enjoyable form, providing schools and institutions a non-traditional medium for science teaching and learning."

After the messages from Ms. Maria Isabel Garcia and Dr. Petra Raymond, we were able to watch two out of the 32 films that will be showing here in the Philippines; Nine-and-a-Half: Life Without Plastic and Annedroids-New Pals. :)

My favourite among the two would have to be Nine-and-a-Half's Life Without Plastic, because it made me realise how almost 95% of the things we use in life are made out of plastic! Even our laptops and phones! Imagine life without those two now!>_< But please do watch it! It's a good film!

The movies will be shown in over 200 schools, museums and other venues nationwide.

The festival partners include: Department of Education, Department of Science and Technology, The Mind Museum, Museo Pambata Foundation Inc., Manila Ocean Park, National Library, ASEAN Center for Biodiversity, U.S. Embassy, Philippine Science Centrum, Quezon City Science Interactive Center, Felta, Ablan Foundation, Cornerstone, UP Deutscher Verein, Leyte Normal University, Film Development Council of the Philippines and the German European School Manila provide venues for the screening of the movies in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Detailed information about the venues and screening schedules will be available at www.goethe.de/manila.

The Mind Museum will show 20 specially curated films from the international selection to be shown in their galleries. :)

The Mind Museum schedule of films

Aside from the films, The Mind Museum's resident scientists, the Mind Movers will further enrich the film fest experience at the museum from Tuesdays to Sundays, 6 times a day at 10am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm, 4pm, 5pm.

So, if you're still thinking of how you'll spend your weekend, why not try bringing the whole family to from some Science educational fun!:) I think it's a good break from all the games and gadgets, right?:)

Have a great weekend, folks!

The Mind Museum Field trip!

This year has been nothing but museum trips for the family and I and I'm beyond happy about it! Believe it or not, I'd rather go to bookstores or museums than shop for clothes. I feel a different kind of happiness when I'm in places that give me a learning experience. :)

Anyhoo, this is actually an overdue post. We went to the Mind Museum last October 4, but I was swamped with backlogs that I wasn't able to squeeze this personal post in. But now I have more time! Yey!:) I want to thank Beb Ana for giving us passes to the museum. It was her gift to us as a family and I really appreciate it cos we've been wanting to go for so long!:)

When we got in, this immediately caught my attention. Fashion enthusiast talaga eh noh? =P How can I resist eco-friendly accessories??

But truly, our first stop was….

Outer space!:) They call this the Universe Gallery if I'm not mistaken. :) What a cool astronaut! The boys and I really enjoyed this gallery. If you don't believe me, just check out the super avail na avail picture spot! haha!:))

The mag-Lola watching NatGeo stuff!

Went inside this twirling thing called the Tunnelcraft and at first you'll feel dizzy, but I kept going in cos cool siya! When we took these photos, the Hubby said, "Lakas maka 70s!" Well, totoo naman! The outcome of the photo looks like we're in the 70s! Time machine pala toh noh?! haha!

This is my favourite spot in the gallery, because it makes you feel like you're under the stars or your star gazing!:) You can also sit on these cool chairs and hear sounds from space!

They call this the Earth Gallery where you learn the forces at work in shaping the earth. It has a lot of prehistoric stuff!

The boys super enjoyed being Archaeologists for a day!:) Look at them digging away and trying to find fossils! I kinda wanted to jump and join in the fun! haha!

Of course, how can you not take an obligatory family photo in front of this majestic creature?? T-rex, T-rex, T-rex! Chant with me!

More cool things we saw at the first floor of the mind museum… The huge chocolate from the Atom Gallery!

Daddy going up the steps to Lightbridge! It's like a piano keyboard and every time you take a step, it plays a tune!:)

After much exploration on the first level, we went up to the second floor where they have the Technology Gallery. This gallery has four themes: How We Live, Who Who Are, How We Know, How Things Work, and Here To There.

Fancy Asher as a Pharaoh or Congressman? Whatcha think? Hmmm.. :)

And naturally, the part of the gallery that the Generation Z enjoys the most… GAMES!

The arcade games actually work and you don't have to enter tokens. :) It was fun watching the kids play and even my Lola! haha!:) Cute lang!

Well, that concludes my photo diary of our Mind Museum trip!:) It's just a glimpse, so please don't feel like it's all you'll see. I didn't want to bombard you with photos cos it wouldn't be as fun! You have to see it for yourself. :) But for me, it's definitely a place to go with your family. I'm sure you guys would have a nice time.

To know more about the Mind Museum and ticket prices, you can go to http://www.themindmuseum.org :)

Wrapped up

$

I'm not really much of a Fall/Winter fashion kind of girl. I always dress up in pastel or bright colours even if it's already that time of the year to layer up. Let's just say black isn't my colour and usually dark colours come out this time around. But when I went shopping a couple of weeks back, I decided that it was time to stir up my wardrobe just a tiny bit and I decided to try out some Fall/Winter dressing for my OOTD today. :)

Hence, my wrapped up look…

This the best way I can incorporate black into my look. But I'm still into light colours, so more of white and hints of pastel pink, cos I can't live without colour! Even just a little!>_< It's a huge blazer, anyway!

I'm really loving the big blazer trend. Not that I follow trends that much. But since this style originated from the 80s, it's safe to say, I'm old school. I love it cos It doesn't constrict my movement, I like how it slouchy it is and I can wear this with almost anything; skirt, dress, shorts and pants.

For my accessories, this is the first time I wasn't afraid to combine my silver and gold together. I'm into the metallic flash tattoos lately and I think despite the anchor being silver, it still complements my sporty turbo chrome watch-- which is another thing that looks great, because of the big dial. :)

Blazer & Skirt: Forever 21
Top: Mango
Bag: Parfois
Metallic Tat: Cinta Manila

I seriously love this look and I'm hoping I could try more Fall Winter look in my next OOTD. :) Wish me luck! I've started doing a few OOTDs this month already. I'm hoping I'll have more time to do so!

Oh and BTW, stay tuned on the blog cos I'll be posting about my Christmas gift suggestions!

Happy Sunday, guys!!

Slammin' time at Slammin' Mini Burgers

I'd like to think that one of the reasons why I'm not a huge burger fan is because of its size. Most burgers come in a big solo size and more often than not, I get overwhelmed with just the same taste. I can name only a few restaurants that have caught my heart when it comes to burgers even if they come in big sizes. But there's this one burger joint that I found so cute - in terms of size and it's Slammin' Mini Burgers + Fries + Dips over at Market Market!:)

By just reading the name of their restaurant, you would have already guessed that the burgers come in mini size. But don't let the restaurant's name fool you. "Mini" doesn't mean bite-sized; in fact, two Mini Burgers add up to more than your average quarter-pound burger, and three is more than a 1/3-pound burger. That means that even if you're dining here solo, you're sure to get your fill. And if you want to mix and match burgers with your barkada, you'll have healthy portions of each kind. After all, bingeing on burgers (or anything, really) is more fun with your friends.

Last Thursday was my day off from school, so I decided to meet up with two of my best friends and bond with them together with my boys. :) Since we haven't tried Slammin' Mini Burgers yet, we gave it a go!:) For some reason, the kids loved the plaque cards the most haha!

If you watched the movie Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, you would definitely be familiar with their mini burgers (that movie makes me hungry whenever I watch it!) and that's how Patrick Dy, Slammin's president came up with the concept! Cool, right?:)

Our order: Two Slammin' Cheese, Bacon N' Mushroom meal w/ blue lemonade, fries and cheesy dip and Crispy Chicks. :)

If you want a fuss free burger, you can keep it simple with the Slammin' Cheese. As for me, I love bacon on almost everything, so I had the Bacon N' Mushroom. These two along with the All American Slider are their bestsellers.

Can you guess who enjoyed Slammin' the most? Here are the many faces of Asher munching on Slammin' Mini Burgers and Fries...

With every bite he utters, "Hmmmmm!!"

Ahem! May cheese ka pa sa labi, anak! Love you!! hehe!=P

And this little boy who only wants cheese on his burger is loving his Slammin' Cheese. :)

If you want something more adventurous when it comes to your food, you can try out Slammin's Black Box Creations. They're limited-edition mini burgers made with extraordinary ingredients--and they're only on the menu for six months. :)

Apart from all these, they also have great add-ons like their Slammin' Wings and the Beer-Battered Fish and Chips. :)

Bottom line, we had a slammin' lunch! I actually can't wait to bring my husband next. :) Oh and if you're tired of popcorn and hotdogs during your movie dates, why not try this for a change?:)

On a last note, I totally regret that I wasn't able to try their Slammin' Iceburgs! Grrrr!!! A good reason for me to come back again! Hehehe!:)

You can find Slammin’ Mini Burgers + Fries + Dips at the ground floor of the new wing of Promenade Mall in Greenhills.; at Food Choices, Level 2, Trinoma; on the fifth floor of Market! Market!, near the cinema area and. A fourth branch is slated to open in Robinsons Magnolia in the fourth quarter of 2014.

Happiness in a jar!

Growing up, I was never a dessert girl nor did I have a sweet tooth. I would easily shun away ice cream, cake or anything that will make me cringe from too much sweetness. However, I did have a favourite! And whenever we would eat at buffets, Leche Flan would always and forever be a must-eat dessert for me. I just love it too much! After having kids though, I started liking desserts. Maybe cos I need more energy and sugar, so bring it on!! ^_^

Speaking of Leche Flan, the Hubby brought this home last night and it's from Andi's Kitchen. It's an online shop and for something online, I'm loving their packaging and this is actually my first time to eat Leche Flan in a jar!:) I now call it my happiness in a jar. I love how it's not overboard sweet, it's creamy and that it has a nice texture to it.

This is a nice pasalubong or gift to your loved ones. It's small, but enough to satisfy your cravings. :)

Universe Gastrolounge

I am no club girl, that all of my close friends know. If I get invited to party in one, expect a no from me. It's not my scene and I was just never into it. That's why I'm really glad that nightclubs have been more generous with people like me who aren't into that. What do I mean? Clubs that have included fine dining in their scene. I actually blogged about one club that offers this kind of experience. You can read it HERE. :)

The other club that I'm talking about is none other than the newly opened Universe at Resorts World Manila. They not only have a night club, but a Universe Gastrolounge as well and last night, I got to have a taste of their scrumptious food!

I adore their chalkboard menu :) So neat!

The place is spacious and cozy. This is the perfect to bring your friends when you want to have a nice dinner out. There's a bar and they have a wide food selection and they're mostly good for sharing and at pocket-friendly prices too, as you can see on the menu. :)

First up in any dinner is the appetisers, of course! Truth be told, I got overwhelmed that we got served for the five appetisers, but I'm not complaining!!

Black Bikini Jamon Serrano & cheese sandwich: black truffle jam
Electric Eel: tempura shrimp, unagi, crab salad, tempura bits

Almondigas: Angus beef meatballs, smoked tomato sauce
Kalifornia roll: mani crab sticks, fresh mangoes, OP mayo

Falafel: hummus, tzatziki, homemade naan bread
Broken eggs: fried potatoes, chorizo

Pizza: Bacon, mixed mushrooms, caramelized onions
Baby Reubens: Kitayama Wagyu pastrami, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese

Salad: Chicken cobb: bacon, blue cheese, ranch dressing, avocado

Patty melt: grilled Angus beef patty, caramelized onions, American cheese

They're a lot, I know! But I was able to get a bite out of all of them and my ultimate favourite would have to be the Chicken Cobb salad, because the sauce wasn't overwhelming, it was refreshing and new to my palette. The Black Bikini Jamon Serrano & Cheese sandwich is love! I guess it must be the truffle jam, speaking to my tummy!:) Don't get me wrong though, they're all good. But if I were to choose, those two would be on my top list!

After the feast of appetisers, it was the MAIN dishes next for us!

BBQ Angus beef rib lets: coleslaw, creamy potato salad

If you're a fan of ribs, then you'll love this! It has that sweet BBQ taste that complements well with the sour taste of the potato salad and guess what? You won't have any hassle of eating this cos it's boneless!

Chicken souvlaki: tzatziki, tomato & red onion salad, herbed butter rice

For those of you who love Greek food, you'll surely enjoy this! Great thing is you can eat it with either the stick or the usual knife and fork. :)

BLT: Bacon, Linguine & Truffle cream sauce

One word: TRUFFLE. Who doesn't love truffle?? Especially on their pasta! Bacon and truffle go so perfect with each other! I can eat this everyday!

Meatloaf & gravy: mashed potatoes, garlic buttered green beans

meatloaves aren't really my thing. But I did enjoy the creamy mashed potato and yummy greens!

Can you already feel how full I was from eating all those?? Haha!:) But no matter how full we were that night, there's always room for dessert!

Trailer Park Monte Cristo: deep fried PB&J

This was something different for me. Who knew you could fry PB&J and taste so incredibly good?? Salty with a hint of sweet! This is something unique and worth to try. :)

Bananas Foster Sundae: banana cupcake a la mode

My favourite!! I love that instead of the typical brownie, they have banana cake!:) I don't think I can ever look at a brownie with ice cream with as much love as I feel for this!

What a gastronomic night at the Universe Gastrolounge, indeed! It was such a stress reliever for me since I came from class that night. It was like eating comfort food; fries, sandwiches and PB&J! Ahhh love!:) Thank you so much to my girls Marie and Keigh for inviting me!:)

Post it and Scotch Revolution!

I am a bookstore junkie and when I entered high school, I had more freedom to choose my school supplies than I did back in grade school. So, imagine my frenzy at bookstores! The Stationary side was my ultimate favourite! I got coloured pens, assorted notebooks and of course, one of the materials I would always buy was Post-its! Usually when my diary gets too filled up, I need extra space and that's when the Post-it comes in. :) From then on, it has always been a favourite of mine. My mom even bought me a bunch of it in different colours! I no longer use a school diary, but I do have a notebook that I constantly put tiny notes on. :)

That's why when I got invited by the 3M company to attend their Post it and Scotch Revolution event, I  need not think of the answer cos it was an absolute, "YES!!" It was an honour to be part of their launch and to see firsthand their new products!

The event was held at the The Tents of Alphaland Southgate Mall and as soon as I entered, I was surprised by their awesome wall that was actually made from scratch with Post-it and Scotch products! Amazing!!^_^ The theme was composed of the street graffitis, office space and school. :)

The theme was just perfect, because when you want to improve performance at work or want to rev up more enthusiasm for school assignments, maybe colourful and snazzy office supplies will help kick-start the creative energy and make schoolwork, office work or even the simple task of home organising a lot more fun.

Some of their new and stylish products include the following...

Tape Soccer Dispenser

Scissors in Gingham print

Full Adhesive notes

Tape Kitty Dispenser

Spot the Scissors in Zebra print! Oh and the cute Designer notes pads :)

Tape Cosmo Dispenser
The new products reflect the fun attitude of the brand and are all about style and self-expression.

Having all these materials will surely perk up and inspire your office or school work!:) How can they not?? Especially that Tape Cosmo dispenser!! Ahhh!! I NEED IT IN MY LIFE!! Too pretty!

As the program started, we got the pleasure of meeting the Division Head of 3M, Ms. Vivian Faustino and the 3M Philippines Managing Director, Mr. Anthony Bolzan. :)

Aside from getting introduced to their newest products, we also got introduced to dancing! haha!:))

It was really funny! They had dance steps according to the newest products; Kitty, Soccer, Scissors, Spin and Cosmo! Hehe!:) The bloggers even joined in the game!

Since everyone is very techy nowadays and people have their smartphones wherever they go, Post-it brand has also introduced its very first productivity app! Now you can bring your Post-it notes with you anywhere! How??

With the amazing Post-it Plus App! When I first tried this app out, I was so amused! I couldn't stop saying WOW! COOL!! and Amazing!! I was in so much awe! Being a Post-it user, you would feel the same way too! You can organise and share notes with your friends in three easy steps: capture, organise , and share!:)

You can download the app like I did on your Apple App Store.

And from there you can start doing the following:
Snapping a picture of a group of Post-it Notes--Just like what I did on the photo above!
Confirm captured Post-it Notes-- Look at the notes on the board! You now have it on your mobile!
Organize your thoughts
Zoom in for greater detail
Share with everyone

Yes, you can share it with your friends via text, email, Facebook or Twitter! You can also export your customized board as a PDF, PowerPoint, Excel or Zipped Folder. Post-it Plus App is available for Apple devices with iOS 8. Androids will be available soon. :)

If typically events have photo booths, I was surprised that the 3M group prepared a caricature of us instead!:)

Mommy Jen having hers done! :)

This was so cute and definitely one-of-a-kind!:) I've never had a caricature done at an event before!:)

Thank you so much for inviting me to this awesome event, 3M!:) I can't wait to get my hands on more Post-It  and Scotch products!!^_^

The new Scotch and Post-it Products are now available at all National Bookstore outlets nationwide. :)
