Instax DIY Day experience!

I must shamefully admit that this blog may be called ARTSY FARTSY AVA, but it seriously lacks a lot of ART DIARIES post for months now. But to be fair, I do most of my artsy stuff on my Instagram. =P But I promise to do more on the blog as well and to start that off, i'd like to share with you guys through a photo diary a really artsy event that I attended last Saturday at Fortune Hall, Centris; The Instax D.I.Y. Day!:)

Despite the rainy weather that day, I managed to get to the venue on time and I loved the little Travel Set up that Mayday Manila did. :)

It's really cute, right?? This was everyones favourite place to take their photo or maybe an excuse to take their OOTD, like me!;)

Since this event was all about designing your Instax, FujiFilm had a lot of booths related to arts and crafts materials or simply stuff that we can use for DIY and also cool workshops lined up for the afternoon. :)

My and Christine's printed photos :)

Each guest that went to the event was a given a Stabilo Pen and ticket that allowed us a total of 7 prints at the Instax Share booth. Naturally, people crowded that area first and why wouldn't we?? People who doesn't have the Instax Share yet get to experience it firsthand and we get to print our phone pictures for FREE and get them in an instant!:) We also had the chance to choose which photos we wanted to decorate.

Super cute Washi Tapes from Paper Blush!:) They have really nice and affordable Washi tapes. They were also nice enough to give awesome freebies to guests who signed up at their booth. :) I got an adorable memo pad!:) Thank you, Mae!

They also had an Instax booth where all the cameras, films and Instax Share was on sale that day!

Maped brought some cool pens and DYMO label maker, so we could put some on our Instax photos. :) Oh and kudos to them for bringing scissors! We were able to cut our papers in one of the workshops cos of them!:)

The place was packed with people and I'm glad I got the chance to attend the biggest workshop with my fellow blogger friends and classmates for the day- Seph, Trice, Christine, Arnie and Tracy (not in the photos huhu :( ) :)

Can you guess the popular outfit print that day??=P Haha!

Kerwin's doodles on Instax :)

The first workshop we had was taught to us by none other than Kerwin King. :) He's such a talented artist when it comes to doodling. I had the pleasure of seeing his work before the workshop and I was blown away at how he doodled on his Instax films. They look like they're actually embedded on the film and it's as if Instax really has doodle films. Amazing!:) He taught us doodling as well. I liked how hands on he was with us by going down the stage, monitoring the progress of each table and even praising everyone's work. :)

Thank you, Kerwin for the awesome workshop! I had fun!

The second workshop for the day was how to make Bookmarks out of your Instax pictures and it was taught to us by my blogger friend Anagon!:)

I swear, this girl is so creative! She always manages to think of great designs or anything out of the ordinary. :) Keep it up, Beb!

The initial instructions was to make a bookmark, but Ana decided to tweak it a bit and allowed our creative juices to flow by letting us do whatever we wanted with our Instax film and All About Scrapbooking Materials. :) Of course to inspire us, Ana and All About Scrapbooking had a giveaway and the 5 most creative posts on Instagram gets a gift pack. Just hearing that, all of us really tried our best to impress our teacher!;) Hehe! There were so many competitive students, mind you!

Hi Monica! hehe :)

I, on the other hand did a bookmark of Asher's printed photo and so touched that my teacher Ana loved it! hehehe! Thanks, Beb! Super loved your workshop! The best!

The last, (but definitely not the least) workshop was done by also another blogger friend, the beautiful Verniece Enciso. :) She was the surprise guest and newest Instax Share ambassador!:) She did some cute pop-up greeting cards. Who would have thought that this was possible, right?? Love it!:) She was even sweet enough to make a car for Baby Vern and Vern! Cute Cute!

Well, that caps of my first Instax DIY Day experience and I so cannot wait for the next one!:) Thank you for having me, FujiFilm Instax and Mikee!!:)

You Are What’s On Your Feet

As I mentioned in my previous post, i'll try to do more Art Diaries post here on my blog and it's so timely that I attended another event that involved a DIY activity, but this time we did it on sneakers!:) I was so ecstatic when I received an invite for this, because not only do I get to be artsy fartsy again, but I also get to DIY sneakers for the second time. --Click HERE for my first time. :) I have to say that what got me more excited to attend this DIY session was because of the brand. It's one of my overused sneakers and slip-ons for my son. We kinda have matching pairs and that brand is none other than Bensimon. :)

There are many different kinds of shoes, but I could never live without a pair of sneakers. Did you know that it was a staid staple of the grunge generation? made specifically to be practical instead of fashionable, useful rather than sexy. It was the kind of shoe that you picked up when you had nothing special planned and automatically slipped on when errands made up the bulk of your day.

In my case, that's also why I wear sneakers and because my style is all about wearing what I'm comfortable with. Casual chic. So, it's really a good thing that sneakers are actually considered fashionable now and could be worn with absolutely any outfit. :)

So what's special about Bensimon and why people love it? Each pair can become a camas of creative expression, it's versatile enough to encapsulate the brand's 'perfectly imperfect' heritage by being used as a canvas for individual creativity. Hence, we unleashed our artistic inclination and designed our pair of Bennies!

The venue for the Bensimon DIY was at Common Thread, Power Plant Mall and as soon as I got there people were already working on their respective pair and that got me even more excited. :) An artsy mess is a happy mess for me!

Truth be told, before going to the event I already Googled some design inspirations for my sneakers, but I couldn't pin it down to what I really wanted, so I just told myself that I'll rely on being spontaneous. =P Luckily though, when I got there I was immediately struck with inspiration and it was all thanks to the pretty ceiling deco of Common Thread. ;)

There were so many art materials to choose from, but I decided to paint mine. :) I went for an abstract design and of course, pastel colours! It was a funny thing that when I arrived at our table, the first thing that my blogger friend Sarah said was "Andiyan na si Ava! Abot niyo na lahat ng pastel sakanya!" Haha! My friends know my colour palette so much! Ang predictable ko lang noh?=P

While I was waiting for my paint to dry, I took some photos of my fellow craft classmates that day and their awesome work!

Sarah and Ana :)

Yuki and Pauly!:)

Bianca Sing :)

Rhea Bue :)

Carizza Chua :)

My blogger friends are so talented!:) I love the designs that they came up with. Just goes to show that each person has their own creative flow!

I brought Athan with me and since he didn't have his own Bennies to DIY, he opted to draw on the papers available at our table and got all our Sharpies! Haha!:)

If you can't decipher it, it's actually soldiers shooting each other. So violent. -_- haha! But he's not violent in real life! He's just into military stuff at the moment. :)

The DIY was only for that day, but you'll be happy to know that Bensimon has new designs out and they are cuter than ever! I especially love the Aloha, Tie Dye, Pair elibaquarell, Camou and Bleach Stars. Super cute! I actually want to get Athan the Camou pair since he's into soldiers. :)

And finally, my finished product! This is my second pair of Bennies and I surely will wear this a lot!

Athan and I in our matching Bennies!:)

Thank you so much, Green Bulb PR, Common Thread and Bensimon Philippines for having me!:) My son and I had a great time!:) Yey for DIY and new awesome kicks!

Bensimon sneakers are available at CommonThread (Greenbelt 5, Power Plant Mall), Rustans (Gateway, Makati, Alabang Town Center, Shangrila), Center of Gravity (Burgos Circle and Centris Walk), Shoe Salon (Glorietta 3, Power Plant Mall Rockwell, Shangri-La Plaza Mall, and Trinoma), and Shoe Thing (Kids styles only: Bonifacio High Street, Eastwood Mall, and Greenbelt 5). The price ranges from 2,095 to 2,565 for the men’s and women’s line and 1,295 to 1,795 for the kids’ styles. Visit www.bensimon.com.phfor more information.

V♥V Book Launch!

When it comes to fashion books I can say that I've read quite a few, but the ones that I really love are those that I can relate to. Especially if they're made by people I know and my friends!:)

I've attended a fellow blogger's book launch last October 2013 and that was none other than Tricia Gosingtian's 150 Style Essentials For Every Girl. I was so excited for her even if we're not really close friends. Her book was a success and I think it's still sold out in every bookstore. :) If I was already excited for someone I'm only acquainted with, imagine my excitement for my blogger friends?? How can I not get excited reading a book made by friends, right??:)

Obviously with the title of my post, I'm talking about Vern and Verniece Enciso. :) They're my favourite blogger sisters and I've been friends with them for 4 years now and since I began attending events. I've seen how far they've come and I am so proud of them. They have remained humble and sweet despite their many achievements in life. I can attest that they have not changed one bit. They only got better. I guess that's why I can't help but cheer for them. :)

A few blogger friends and I spent the afternoon today at National Bookstore, Glorietta for the VV A Life and Style Diary book launch. :) The place was filled with all things pink! One of them was this table filled with nice and cute treats!:)

Aside from today being the official launch of their book, it was also Verniece's 20th birthday!!:) Awww! We all sang her a Happy Birthday!

The girls did a little Q & A for their fans/readers who are curious about how they made the book, what they like about it and more. :) I actually wanted to ask what they're favourite part was in the book, but I got too shy! haha!:))

There were a lot of people who lined up for the book signing and it was soooo sweet that their brother Vernon and Baby Vern also lined up and got their copy signed. Cuties and ever supportive brothers!! Oh and speaking of supportive, thank you so much to Tita Mylin (Vern and Verniece's mom) for also kinda taking care of us awhile ago at the launch!:)

Busy girls, signing happily!:) I saw how they interacted with each of their readers and they really took time talking to them. Sweet girls! This is how every book signing should be!

Guess who's turn it is??? Me! Me! oh me!

Thank you for the sweet dedication, girls!:) So glad I was a part of your launch!

Bloggers United! haha!:) Paul, Bestie, Ana, Vern, Me, Verniece, Arnie and Christine :)

If you want a book that talks about fashion, beauty, fitness, travel, and life in general, you should get a copy of their book!:) Good read, I promise! I'm sure you would enjoy it and who knows, you might even bring it with you wherever you go cos it's so relatable and inspiring!:)

Congratulations again, girls!:) So happy for you!!!

You can buy VV A Life and Style Diary for only Php 250 at your favourite bookstores!

Akira: Art of Sushi & Teppanyaki

If I had a bucket list of the countries I wanted to go to before I turn 30, I would definitely put Japan on my top 5. They may seem to be a really tech savvy country, but I love the rich culture that they have. Especially their Kawaii stuff and food! Oh my! Don't get me started on those two! But since I don't have the budget to book a trip with my family, I've managed to find ways to make a quick trip to Japan and that's through immersing myself to scrumptious Japan cuisine!:)

I guess it's already predictable that I love Japanese food and it's amazing that a lot of Japanese restaurants have been sprouting here in Manila. I've tried most of them, but I can't believe that I haven't tried Akira at Shangri-La Mall until last Saturday! When this year started, I often went to Shang and I can't understand why I missed out on Akira for that long! But thankfully, I finally got to dine there and with none other than my blogger family!:)

The interior of the restaurant has a post-modern design that exhibits the neat unanimity of traditional and contemporary Japanese elements. My favourite are the canvas prints of prominent Japanese icons on the chairs and the fixtures resembling as firework explosions. :)

Aside from the beautiful interior, guests this month of August have the chance to enjoy their yummy food with good Koto Music from Japan.

As I stated on my post title above, Akira has Teppanyaki. The first time I ever encountered or had Teppanyaki was when I was in Taiwan. But that only involved the chef cooking food in front of us, then we ate. So, when the blogger friends and I sat in front of our grill table, we expected just that. Only to our surprise, we were actually in for an amazing Teppanyaki show!

If you want to bring your family or friends at Akira, you can try out their Teppanyaki Group Specials, which is good up to 5 persons. That's what we had!:)

"The restaurant is inspired by the fictional story of Akira, the legendary Teppanyaki Chef of Japan who trained and fought the fire god Kagutsuchi to save Sayuri, his beloved. Here we feature the art of teppanyaki, a style of Japanese cuisine that uses an iron griddle to cook food. Likewise our chefs are trained to showcase their teppanyaki skills in front of their guests, not just to cook food but to entertain them as well."

Like I said, we were in for a show and we were all in awe to see our chef tossing and flipping his cooking tools and even juggling the ingredients! Aaaaamaaaziiinng!!!

And of course with tricks like these…

It's not hard to fall for yourchef food! May heart shape effect pa si Chef! Pwede mag request ng shape? Star naman po next?? Hahaha! I know mothers are suppose to teach their kids not to play with their food. But may exception to the rule pala at Akira!;) Oh and I'd like to commend the chef for asking first if anyone is allergic with prawns before actually mixing everything together. So considerate!

Other than Teppanyaki, you can also enjoy other food, like ramen, noodles, sushi, sashimi, tempura, tonkatsu, bentos, inventive maki/roll, and Akira's very own selection of fruit shakes and beverages!

MENU photos from Beb Ana :)

There's a wide selection of food and drinks, so I'm sure you'll love it here!:)

Now that I've tried Akira, it's become one of my favourite Japanese restos. :) Went home that day with a happy heart, tummy and face!:) Thank you so much, Akira! Can't wait to go back!

Pinocchio on stage!

Growing up as a child I have always loved reading books and watching those books get turned into movies. Those were the little things that got me excited as a kid. One of my favourite stories then was Pinocchio. It was originally written by Carlo Collodi in 1881 and it has been one of the most famous stories in children's literature and one of the most adapted. Like the popular adaptation of Walt Disney. :)

It was a joy watching Pinocchio and I like the moral of the story as well. That's why now that I have my own children, I want them to also learn about it and love Pinocchio like I did. Thankfully, there is a more current adaptation, an amazing musical presented by the Repertory Philippines; Pinocchio by Jim Eiler with music by Jim Eiler and Jeanne Bargy.

Waiting for the show to start!!

Though I don't get the chance to watch a lot of musicals, I actually love watching. I've seen Beauty and The Beast on broadway before when I was in NYC and last year, the family and I watched Alice in Wonderland for Athan's Kinder 1 out of school thing and A.I.W. was also the production of Repertory Philippines. It was my first time to see a musical done here in Manila and I was totally impressed. Which is why when I got invited for the Press Preview of Pinocchio, I did not hesitate and got my family to join in the fun as well. :)

Set in Italy, this beloved tale of Pinocchio, a life-sized upper created by the caring puppet maker, Geppetto.

Ms. Joy Virata, artistic director of Repertory Philippines Theater for Young Audiences will direct Pinocchio. This marks the third time that Repertory Philippines is staging the musical, the first two being in 1996 and 2004. What's great about this year's Pinocchio is that real kids will actually play the role and not adults. :)

I'm sure kids and the kids at heart will truly enjoy this new a fresh production of Pinocchio. I know my family and I sure did. The cast and show is just so alive and bursting with energy. The colourful set design and costumes are already a visual treat for the audience. Plus, the children will also enjoy singing to songs and interacting with the characters!

There was a short Q&A after the show and a cute kid asked, "Where's Jiminy Cricket?" Unfortunately, Jiminy won't be joining in this musical cos it's a different adaptation. But not to worry, because you're still in for an awesome show that will surely capture your heart and a lot of silly yet adorable questions from your kids after the show. ;)

Pinocchio is set to open today- August 16, 2014 at the Onstage Theater,  2/F, Greenbelt 1, Paseo de Roxas cor. Legazpi St., Makati City. The show runs until December 14, 2014

Don't Kill The Magic

I have been so used to blogging almost every single day that four days of not being able to feels like forever! Well, I guess when it comes to outfit posts, I've been neglecting that quite a bit cos I just can't seem to find the time to take my OOTD. Blame the bipolar weather! Anyway, I'm making up for it now. Yey!:)

Truth be told, I haven't been having the best week nor the best feeling. Well, I've been feeling this melancholy for quite some time now, but I just didn't want it to get the best of me. Unfortunately this week it totally dawned on me. So, instead of avoiding it, I dealt with it. I cried a bucket of tears and allowed to committee of sleep to work on it. As in I slept in from night till 5PM. I know that's pretty intense. But I won't deny that it helped me a little. As soon as I got out of bed, I told myself that i'd snap out of my gloomy state and face the day with a better attitude. Today was easier than yesterday and I learned from it.

One thing I learned is that you can't avoid being sad no matter how hard you try. The more you try, the more it gets difficult. You just have to let yourself deal with it. If you need to cry for a week, then do it. People who say that you have to 'suck it in' or 'stay positive right this instant' are crazy people. They don't know what you're going through to even say that. I've read Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom when I was in high school and I was able to pick up a lot of life lessons from it. I'm thankful during times that I feel down, I'm able to look back on these important quotes…

"if you hold back on the emotions—if you don’t allow yourself to go all the way through them—you can never get to being detached, you’re too busy being afraid. You’re afraid of the pain, you’re afraid of the grief. You’re afraid of the vulnerability that loving entails. “But by throwing yourself into these emotions, by allowing yourself to dive in, all the way, over your head even, you experience them fully and completely. You know what pain is. You know what love is. You know what grief is. And only then can you say, ‘All right. I have experienced that emotion. I recognize that emotion. Now I need to detach from that emotion for a moment’.”
― Mitch AlbomTuesdays with Morrie

“I give myself a good cry if I need it, but then I concentrate on all good things still in my life.”

“None of us can undo what we've done, or relive a life already recorded. But, ... there is no such thing as "too late" in life.”
― Mitch AlbomTuesdays with Morrie

But after all the emotional roller coaster, stop it. You need to feel good again and only you can do that for yourself. No one else can pick you up. It's never to late to fix whatever you're going through. We just have to look at the beautiful things still left around us.

I won't say that my family life is perfect. It has a lot of flaws that you can't even imagine. But during the times I feel so lost and confused, I'm grateful to have people like them who point me in the right direction. I'm not 100% back to being peachy. But I'm getting there with the little help from my boys.

So if you're feeling that nothing in your life is going right or making sense, take a breather. Cry it out, feel it, and then let it go. You can either write down what you're feeling, listen to upbeat music or read on things that can boost your happiness. I can't promise you'll feel better in an instant, but it'll get better. Slowly, but surely.

Teddy's Bigger Burgers is now open!

A few days ago, I went to the Media launch of Teddy's Bigger Burgers and It had 3 slots for the day, but I opted for the last together with my blogger sisters, which was at 6PM. The place has been packed since morning and I was just so surprised to see that despite the busy day, the staff was still so perky, courteous and just excited to serve us. :)

Teddy's Burgers is Hawaii's best burgers, so it's no wonder that the place will kinda remind you of a beach or shack.

To be honest I'm not a huge burger fan But when I do find myself wanting a burger, I always make sure that it's my money, time and stomach's worth. I'm picky that way and I really want the kind of burger that has a lot of healthy stuff in it. I know that may sound ironic, but what I mean by healthy is that it has huge chunks of tomatoes, lettuce and cheese. :) Some burger joints are stingy on those three.

Even if I'm not a burger fan, being a foodie I still do crave for it from time to time and I always like dining at new places, so I know where I can bring my friends or family next. :)

I guess you're wondering what's special about Teddy's, right?

Teddy’s uses only 100% fresh chilled ground chuck (no fillers or binders). Burgers are hand pattied daily and always charbroiled to order. Super Sauce is Teddy’s own sweet and tangy creation, not the usual thousand island dressing. Teddy’s Teriyaki Sauce is a traditional recipe made from scratch. Our produce and buns are the highest quality and are delivered fresh daily.

They take pride in giving their customers the quality they deserve. :)

Most of the people that came to dine that night ordered the famous Waikiki burger and I as well. I got so overwhelmed that we got to add our own toppings and I always love bacon with my burger. Super sinful, I know!!>_< But you can't deny that it's the best combination!

Aside from the hefty choices in toppings, you also get to choose your sides of fries or onion rings.

I had the cheddar cheese burger with bacon and onion rings. I got shocked when I saw my order cos the burger and onion rings was so HUGE!O_o I actually found it a bit hard to eat my burger (in a good way!), but it was definitely one of THE best burgers for me.  Big tomato and lettuce-- Check Check! Cheesy-- Check! Juicy Patty and bacon-- Super check! :) I enjoyed it a lot!

My blogger sister Ana is a vegetarian, so you might find it odd why she's in a burger joint. Well, it's different at Teddy's cos they made her a special lettuce wrap instead!:) Coolie!

My loves Arnie, Christine, Joed and I almost had the same order. We just differed a bit with our toppings. :)

Teddy's Burger is awesome! Did you guys hear or even went to their official opening today? The first 100 customers got FREE burgers! Wow, right??^_^ Amazing! I also heard they gave away 1 year supply! Sarap!!!

I truly enjoyed my dining experience at Teddy's Bigger Burgers and I so cannot wait to bring my burger-loving husband and friends here!:)

BDJ BOX: August 2014!

Its been two months since I've done a BDJ Box unboxing and I really did miss it, so getting a box this August is so timely! Oh and speaking of timely, This month's box is focused on our crowning glory-- our hair! I totally need to pamper my hair cos it has been stressed!

Did you ever have the feeling that even if you don't have makeup on, but as long as your tresses are looking great that it will be an amazing day? I do!:) I'm not one for too much makeup, but give me luscious locks and I'm good to go! Reason why, I'm excited to show you the wonderful hair products that I got in my box. Oh fret not, i'll also be sharing other beauty items here!

I heard from some fellow bloggers that this month's box also had the special August Golden Box Ticket. I wasn't able to get that, but I already feel like a winner with this box! It's filled with almost Php 3000 worth of beauty goodies. Happiness!:)

I also love the sticker: "Be a girl with a mind, A woman with attitude, A lady with class." :) Will definitely stick this on my notebook. :)

L'Oreal Professionel Mythic Oil Nourishing Masque & L'Oreal Professionel Mythic Oil

Masque, 200ml - Php 1,095 | Mythic Oil, 125ml - Php 995

This masque has a Paraben-free formula with Argan Oil & Cotton Seed Oil that works to balance hair's natural oil levels, targeting very dry ends to deliver intense nourishment for deeply nourished, disciplined and glowing hair.

Enriched with a special blend of Avocado and Grape Seed Oil, L'Oreal Professionel Mythic Oil cares and pampers all hair types. Nourishing even the finest hair, the formula leaves hair shiny and supple.

I so cannot wait to try these two products. Ever since I had my hair ombre-fied two years ago, I felt like I've totally fried my hair. Hoping with the help of the masque and mythic oil, I can get smoother hair. :)

Garnier Color Naturals

100ml - Php 199

Get natural looking and long-lasting colour, while leaving your hair soft and silky. It's easy to apply, non-drip cream formula enriched with natural olive oil to nourish your hair as it colours.

This is my second time to receive this product in my box. I think the last time was January-February? Anyhoo, just the other day I tried colouring my hair with this and here are my PROS and CONS…

PROS

- Unlike other hair colour that makes your hair feel frizzy, this doesn't. It leaves your hair soft and silky.
- It is easy to apply if you're used to just using just your hands; It comes with two plastic gloves.
- The cream doesn't drip
- You only need to wait 30 minutes for the colouring process to complete

CONS

-If you want to achieve really light brown hair (like on the box), you won't get it if you have jet black hair. Mine barely showed.
-The new packaging doesn't include the hair colour applicator comb anymore.

Will I try this again? Yes. I'm willing to try the reapplication process and see if the light brown will finally show. But if not, I guess this product isn't for my hair. :)

Quirky urban clothing outlet

When shopping for clothes nowadays, I tend to look for new stores to go to since Manila has been bringing in a lot of brands lately. Shopping has gotten even more exciting everywhere you look. I have a few favourite malls in mind when it comes to the stores that I love. But of course that won't stop me from going to other places for unique finds. :)

One of the stores that I recently visited was down south and even if it was the far end of my south; Alabang Town Center to be exact, I still went because I was really curious on what Urban Apparel had to offer.

What is Urban Apparel?

A step into Urban Apparel's chic interiors unveils a sense of art behind its design; bold black-and-white stripes slash across the store's doorway column, leading eyes to sharply dressed mannequins at the window. Fun little quirks, like afro-shaped decals, litter the store's every corner, serving as a backdrop evocative of the clothe's aesthetics- stylish and trendy, yet never taking itself too seriously.

The interior of Urban Apparel is very eye catching and I won't deny that it's one of the coolest stores I have ever been to. It strays away from the typical racks and dressing rooms. :) One of the main inspiration for the store interior is actually music. You can find Vinyl records and lines from songs framed on the walls. The store will definitely remind you of an Urban setting.

With everything there is to see and experience at Urban Apparel, it's the clothes that remain the undisputed highlight. Urban Apparel brings four of the fashion world's most fun-loving brands to Metro Manila; Tokyo Laundry from the UK, Tally Weijl from Switzerland, Paris'Fresh Brand and Kikkerland from the US. :)

Loving this faucet-turned-clothes hanger. :)

My favourite!! Super awesome Knick Knacks from Kikkerland!

I find it so amazing that they actually carry these quirky stuff. Kikkerlang is an award-winning creative design studio with cheeky, inventive items for every personality. :)

Just look at those cool chopsticks, corn skewers and Ninja pen!

WANT.THIS.BAG!

The different brands offer fashionistas a wide collection of trendy urban casual wear that would suit each mood and at Urban Apparel, you're assured that shopping would be more fun and exciting.
I'm sure you guys will love this store as much as I did. :) Can't wait to show you what I got!

With Tracy and Lissa :)

Coolest dressing rooms ever!

Thank you so much, Urban Apparel for a fun afternoon!:) Your store truly did not disappoint! Can't wait to visit your other branches!

You may find Urban Apparel at the following:

G/F Alabang Town Center, Alabang Zapote Wing

Eat Out Manila: Hassle free reservations!

Whenever my mom would come home from Taiwan, she would always always always ask me where's the best place to eat. There have been a lot of restaurants that opened in Manila, so it's not really difficult to know which places to take her at. The only problem is, how many people are dining in that restaurant. Usually, there are a ton of people and we'd have to wait in line. But there it's worst when we totally don't get to sit down and have to look for another place.

Don't you just hate it when you're mind, heart and stomach are already fixated on that restaurant and you can actually imagine the taste of that certain food, but then every slot or time is reserved already? That's a major bummer for me.

Thankfully now, my dining out experience in the metro will be so much better! This is all thanks to Iñaki Lamata, one of the founders of Eat Out Manila. :)

Eat Out Manila, a smartphone application also accessible via its web-based interface EatOutManila.com, offers a real-time experience that allows users to lock in a table at the restaurant of their choice- anytime and anywhere.

Recognizing the challenges of booking a restaurant table where one has to pick up the phone on one hand, and the restaurant, at the receiving end, has to keep a manual log of reservations, the founders came up with Eat Out Manila to offer a quick and easy way of getting things done.

Initially available through the Apple iTunes store, Eat Out Manila allows its users to search for restaurants with a variation of filters such as cuisine and location, restaurant, or by any cuisine, menu type or price range. Preferred time, date and number of persons are also required to check the availability at the chosen restaurant. Users can register via providing their details or logging in via Facebook. Users also have the option of accessing Eat Out Manila via its web-based interface.

Once you confirmed your reservation on the app, you will also get an email securing your reservation.

Iñaki teaching us how to use the app. :)

Eat Out Manila's partner establishments. :)

Aside from the hassle-free table reservations, Eat Out Manila also offers exclusive deals to its valued app users. Discounts, gift certificates, and freebies from top-notch restaurants await the lucky foodies who will be booking a reservation at any of Eat Out Manila's partner establishments.

Now there are more ways to enjoy your mobile app when you're out!:) Oh for sure the family and I will enjoy our dining experience more!

At the launch of Eat Out Manila, fellow bloggers and media people were able to enjoy scrumptious food at one of Eat Out Manila's partner establishments Rambla!:) It was Tapeo heaven!!

Bread with Tomato & Extra Virgin Olive Oil - Php 125

Cold Octopus Carpaccio with Hummus, Red onions, Coriander & Sweet Paprika - Php 495

Foie Gras Mousse with Caramelized Apple & Coffee-Baileys Foam- Php 295

Beef Tenderloin Capaccio :)

Prawns "Al Ajillo"& Shitake Mushroom - Php 425

Spherical olives marinated in extra virgin olive oil - Php 45 per piece

Aside from the great food, I'm really glad I learned about this awesome app!:) I can't wait to start using it with my friends and family!:) To my fellow foodies, lets ditch the long lines and hours of waiting outside restaurants by booking through Eat Out Manila!

You may now start your restaurant booking adventure now by visiting www.eatoutmanila.com or downloading the app from the iTunes store! It will be also available on Android soon!

Just for today

When it comes to reading books, I don't really have much time for it like I did before having kids. It's quite impossible to finish one book in a month for me nowadays. It takes me months! I guess it's because the kiddos are still small and it's difficult to concentrate on what I'm reading while I'm looking after them at the same time, I have to stop every now and then. Nevertheless, I'm still alright with the situation and thankful that even if I don't get to read an entire book in a fast phase, I still get to do it from time to time. That's the reason why I keep a few ebooks on my phone and create book lists, so I know what i'll be reading after. :)

Aside from reading fiction books, I also enjoy reading books that have quotes or inspirational meanings to them. Those are the kinds of books that I fancy right now since you can learn from them even by just reading one page alone. :) I currently have a few, but for now I'd like to share with you guys one of the books that I'm reading.

Polo: Urban Apparel
Shorts: Ai Online Shop
Cardigan: Giordano
Sandals: Birkenstock

Since I can't read a whole book in one day, why not read a meaningful page that can fill up your day, right?:) One of those books is Just For Today: Guidelines For Living by Harold J. Sala

It's basically a book that is good for 365 days. As you can see the pages above, it's arranged by month and date. This book is about finding God's strength and help for today. :)

This book has been a really great guide for me. I don't read it religious every single day. But when I do feel helpless, sad or confused, I pick this book up and just immerse myself in it and even highlight phrases that I want to remember. It may just be one page, but more often than not, it speaks to me and my situation in life. Especially the recent one I read yesterday- September 6. It talks about how God answers our prayers. It says that "God loves you too much to give you everything you ask for." and "…You can trust God for the best in your life." True enough, if God did give us everything we asked for that would be pretty chaotic. We'd only have temporary happiness and you don't even know if things would work out. But God has his perfect timing and I can attest to that.

I'm glad I have this book. It keeps me sane. Aside from this one though, I also suggest reading…

Keep Calm and Carry On by Andrews McMeel Publishing, LLC
The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin
Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom

These books have been a good source of inspiration for me and have really relatable quotes. If you want a good picker-upper, these books are a must-read!

Next, I can't wait to get my hands on the following books...

Wonder by RJ Palacio
Lullabies by Lang Leav
Adultery by Paulo Coelho

I've heard good reviews about them and got a glimpse online a few relatable quotes from them too.

I guess for me, I try to live my day one day at a time and try to look at the bright side. If I'm too troubled, I try to find ways to bring back my optimism… May that be just reading a really good book. :)

So, just for today, what keeps you motivated, happy, inspired or to simply put it, what are the things you do to help you cope?

Manila Sundance Trois!

I love going to bazaars and all the more being a part of them. I'm fortunate enough to be with Manila Sundance Bazaar for the third time around. :) I was able to setup a booth again and it was even more fun, because I got to be with my best friends again!:)

I think this September 2014's setup is my favourite one yet! Super cool photo wall!

The bazaar lasted for three days as usual and we manned the booth every single day. But I loved it!  Aside from having fun company, it was also great, because we got to meet a lot of people who dropped by our booth, spotted cute kids running around (which made me miss Asher a lot!>_<) and enjoyed picnicking  at our tiny, but cozy booth!:)

When it comes to joining bazaars, I normally would just sell. I refuse to spend, because I want my earnings to stay intact. But I found a lot of the things that I've been wanting at this Manila Sundance Bazaar, so I couldn't help but get them. Oh and they were sold for a cheaper price, so all the more why not!

Mason Jar from Kitchen Counter Manila :)

Gold Plated Initial from Fashtaginfinity :)

Ninja Turtle nano blocks :) Cuteeee!

Hair tie/friendship bracelets from " : " | Elephant bracelet from Fudge Rock :)

These were my cute finds!:) Funny story about my last find, which were the hair ties. My best friend Nickie and I wanted to buy a set. But of course we were eyeing on the cutest design and at the best price. We spotted two booths that had them. The only catch was that the booth across who sold the cutest design was selling a set for Php 150 and the one with the less cuter design priced it at Php 100. That was a dilemma since we weren't willing to spend that much for hair ties…kuripot! haha! We're just strong bargain hunters! But the booth that was selling it for Php 100 though had this cute elephant bracelet. But I walked away and we managed to find another booth with these cute hair ties and guess what?? They were only for Php 50!! Woot! Score!^_^

But among all the cute stuff, the one I love the most is the elephant bracelet! My best friends surprised me with it. They saw how much I wanted it, but chose to let it go cos I didn't want to spend anymore. I was so touched when they came back to our booth with it!^_^

Happy that I also got to see fellow blogger friends at the bazaar! Too bad I only got two pictures! But hello Megann, Vern, Verniece, Seph, Trice, Cristina and Dana!:)

If you're a first time bazaarista at Metrotent and would wanna save up on food expenses, be sure to try out Goodah!:) You'll save half of what you usually spend on food!:)

Also munched on yummy bazaar drinks and food! Super love Zen tea's lemon grass!

Day 3 OOTD!

Spot the photo bomber! haha!

Thank you so much to my best friends and hubby for a great bazaar experience. It wouldn't have been fun or the same without you guys!:) Till our next bazaar!

To the Manila Sundance team and Rika, thank you so much again for having me!:) It was a really fun and awesome experience. :) Congratulations for the successful 3 day event!:)

Flight 001: Japan Collection

$

As early as 4 years old, I was already travelling and by the time I reached 7 years old, I was already travelling as an unaccompanied minor. It's the kind of relationship that my mom and I have since she works abroad. But even if that's the case, I enjoyed my summer vacations packing, hopping on a plane and seeing a new place. There's only one thing that lacked though. I always had the typical travel stuff or to bluntly put it--ugly. Imagine me, a girl who loves all things cute and gets stuck with plain jane travel products. Sad! -_-

I may not be able to bring back time, but I'm so glad I now know about the unique travel store that is Flight 001. For 15 years now, Flight 001 remains to be a one-stop seamless shop for products as functional and unique as the travellers. :)

The new Japan collection of Flight 001 only makes me want to say, TIME FOR AN UPGRADE!:) No more typical, average luggages! It's time to get new travel companions like these beauties!

Cargo Carry-on Luggage

Dash Check-in Luggage

Denver 48 Hours Bag / Denver Utility Bag

JFK: Airline Bag / Overnighter Bag / Shoulder Bag

LGA Carry-on Bag / LGA Tote Bag

Rollaway Carry-on Luggage / Rollaway Check-in Luggage

I definitely want a CARGO luggage in pink or yellow. For sure i'll be the envy of every girl traveler! hehe!:)

Aside from the launch of their Japan collection last August 28, 2014 at 2nd's Restaurant at Fort, guests from the media were able to enjoy a night filled with good food, great company and an awesome quiz night! All of us had to bring out our travel game-on!

Truth be told, I researched a bit on the possible questions that will be asked. >_< Only two were asked. Everyone was so competitive! But I had fun!:) Even Athan can't help but join in the fun! He was our boy when it came to erasing!

They also raffled out some cool Flight 001 stuff!

One of our team member won a pretty Cargo luggage bag! Lucky!!:)

We also got the pleasure of meeting the brainchild of Flight 001, John Sencion and Brad John. They were funny and definitely such talented guys. :)

Just in time for its 15th anniversary, Flight 001 is thrilled to announced a rewards promo for flight crew members. Flight attendants and pilots may simply present their flight crew IDs and get 20% discount on all Flight 001 products in all Flight 001 stores worldwide. Plus, the discount also applies to non-Flight 001 products in select stores. :)

That is definitely a great way of making flight crew members feel loved and important! After all, their job is really tough. Imagine having to deal with grumpy and demanding passengers day in and day out. Flight 001 salutes them and so do I!

Head out to Flight 001 and find all your travel needs and essentials all in one roof!

Ippudo now open!

If you're wondering what's going on with the long lines these past few days at the 3rd floor of the Mega Fashion Hall, well, I'm happy to report that Ippudo has finally opened its flagship store in the Philippines! Filipino ramen aficionados can expect a complete and unique dining experience at Ippudo Philippines. :)

Truth be told, I'm not a huge fan of ramen, but I really enjoyed my dining experience there. The restaurant serves Ippudo's famous signature ramen dishes- Shiromaru Classic, Akamaru Modern and Karaka-men. Aside from the delicious bowl of ramen, guests can cozy up to their stylish and relaxing ambiance over lunch or dinner.

Ippudo is originally from Japan and its founder Shigemi Kawahara a.k.a. the Ramen King opened the first Ippudo in his hometown in October 1985. Ippudo is known for serving unique signature ramen dish and all of the locations offer seasonal dishes. Ippudo was also the first to refer to broth by colour Aka (red) and Shiro (white), which soon became a standard industry practice.

Hence, the really cool red and white ramen bowl interior decoration of Ippudo here in Manila. :)

Akamaru Shinaji

Shiromaru Motoaji

Karaka-men

Ipuddo offers three kinds of Ramen:

Akamaru Shinaji (red bowl)- Ippudo's original tonkotsu broth enhanced with special blended miso paste and fragrant oil. Served with thin noodles, pork belly, kikurage and spring onions. A refined, modern-style ramen.

Shiromaru Motoaji (white bowl)- Ippudo's original tonkotsu broth served with ultra-thin noodles, pork loin, bean sprouts, kikurage and spring onions. Classic Hakata-style ramen.

Karaka-men (black bowl)- Ippudo's original tonkotsu broth served with wavy thin noodles, pork belly, kikurage and spring onions. Special spicy miso with ground pork and fragrant garlic oil add kick to the senses.

Among the three, I had the Akamaru Shinaji, because it was less spicy than Karaka-men. But if you want something that has no spice at all, you can go for the Shiromaru Motoaji. :)

Aside from having a warm bowl of awesome ramen, you can also choose to have them with these delicious Ippudo Salad and Classics.

Goma-Q

Dashimaki Tamago with Mentaiko Mayo

Curry Cheese Harumaki

Ippudo Pork Bun

Ippudo Hakata-style Gyoza

My favourite among these is the Goma-Q and Gyoza!:) There are more dishes to choose from than these, so be sure to dine at Ippudo soon to see and taste!:)

We also got the pleasure of meeting the Operations manager Yota Shiiba and seeing Chef Doi do his thing in the kitchen.

To all ramen lovers and fellow foodies, head on to Megamall this weekend and try out Ippudo!:) I'm sure you'll come out with a smile and happy tummy!

Free in my skin

$

They say the skin is one of the most important parts of our body and therefore we have to take care of it very well. But of course, there are times when it's inevitable for us to experience dry, itchy and sensitive skin because of the pollution and bipolar weather. So, when our skin gets irritated, we are definitely affected by this and it can cause for us to feel insecure physically and emotionally. These feelings can hold us back from the freedom of making our own decisions and pursue our dreams and passion.

But that freedom should begin from within, from loving oneself and liberating it from insecurities. Being free is being comfortable in one's own skin. Unfortunately, having sensitive skin makes us miss out on life's many opportunities.

What can we do to battle these emotional struggles and self-doubt?

Fortunately, Physiogel has recently launched a campaign called the Free in My Skin Movement. This aims to empower women to fully embrace and participate in life by freeing them from dry and sensitive skin, because having dry and sensitive skin can serve as a hindrance for women to fully function to their best abilities. This movement also aims to honour smart, strong, sensitive women who have faced their insecurities and are now embracing and living life to the fullest. Just like modelm TV host and entrepreneur Patti Grandidge.

Patti, one of the country's freshest and most beautiful faces, admitted that she used to be like one of every two Filipinas who suffered from dry and sensitive skin.

“It’s amazing how one simple change in my skincare has renewed my confidence,” she enthused.  “One of the best feelings is when you feel confident, and have control of your life, like I can do anything! And with Physiogel, I am Free In My skin to do just about anything."

“The Free in My Skin movement is not just about creating a nurturing community of  smart, strong and sensitive women, but is also as a way of honoring these women who didn’t let their dry-skin insecurities prevent them from being the best versions of themselves,” says General Manager of GSK Consumer Healthcare, Mr. Jeoffrey Yulo.

And to officially launch the Free in My Skin Movement, Patti Grandidge encourages women to join her in honouring the smart, strong and sensitive women in our lives who have all been a source of inspiration. Think of three smart, strong, and sensitive women you know and you are proud of and tag them on your Facebook post like this…

Me, Cher, Nikita, Ana, Yuki and Christine. :)

I myself have joined in this movement along with my fellow blogger friends. I wrote above the ladies that have inspired me in life and you too can do the same!:) Here's a sample…

"I honour these smart, strong and sensitive women in my life: @Nickie De Jesus @Ana Gonzales @Yuki Tansengco! You girls are amazing!:) #FreeInMySkin #NowPayitForward #PhysiogelPH"

Every woman is encourage to be part of this movement and just by posting these on your walls, you can make this movement a success and make those women in your life happy. :)

Aside from learning about this wonderful movement, I was also able to try Physiogel for myself. I was actually in awe when I found out that my skin rating was 30.5. This meant that I had low normal skin. That's dry. :(

Beb Ana had a rating of 35. But after the Physiogel lady attendants applied the Physiogel Cleanser, Cream and Lotion on our hands, we were surprised that our rating went from 30+ to 50+!:) That's a huge change! We found out that Physiogel actually locks moisture in and this allows Physiogel to repair dehydrated skin and revitalize the skin- keeping it healthy from within.

True enough, Physiogel has been good for my youngest son Asher. He has skin asthma, so using ordinary soap is a big NO-NO for him. It's heartbreaking whenever he suffers from intense itchiness, because it really gets to him. He scratches endlessly and it ends up making his skin rough and irritated. I've tried using mild soaps, but so far nothing has made him feel at ease like Physiogel. :) Oh and Phyisogel is free from perfumes, preservatives or colorants, which makes it extra perfect for babies. :)

Along with Physiogel, let's help spread the #FREEINMYSKIN movement and empower women!:)

Mystical Pandora

$

When Pandora first arrived here in the Philippines, a lot of people went crazy over their bracelets and who wouldn't be? I myself couldn't help but ogle at their beautiful pieces every time I pass by their store. Especially their charms! My my my! They're just precious! It can signify or be a reminder of many things in your life; an adventure, relationship, your favourite animal, a passion, career and so on. I actually already have a few charms in mind if I do happen to get a Pandora bracelet someday. ;)

Pandora is just lovely and dreamy! Which is why I got so excited when I got invited to the launch of their 2014 Autumn/Winter collection. No one can say no to Pandora, so it was definitely a big YES for me!

The event was held at new Mega Fashion Hall, located near their store. :)

The Pandora A/W' 2014 collection is a creative reimagining of an enchanted forest. Picture the tall, swooping trees lining the woods, or the golden fallen leaves from its branches, the somber moon as it lights up the autumn starry sky, or the mystical florals that bloom in the twilight. A sense of otherworldly wonderment for autumn has arrived.

See for yourself why this new collection will captivate you…

Pandora creates a new magical classic that mirrors their mystique and novelty, and altogether polishing it off with signature sophistication. I'm sure this collection will also somewhat remind you of magical and nature-inspired films that you watched growing up. :)

The series boasts of beautifully textured and ultra-feminine rings, earrings, charms and pendants, which can be collected over time and stacked, combined, and styled with other pieces for a truly personal look. Crafted from sterling silver, 14k gold, coloured enamel and sparkling cubic zirconia, the A/W collection melds tradition with innovation to create unforgettable moments and stylish sentiment.

" You have gone through the forest and the night unafraid.
Imagine if you could go through life, gathering the precious charms that are symbols of life's mysterious and wonderous unfolding."

To complete this wonderful night of whimsy, guests were treated to a beautiful and graceful ballet performance.

Echoing the Autumn/Winter collection inspirations, Pandora brings to life the mystery and magic of the forest thru interpretive ballet and scenography. The newly opened SM Mega Fashion Hall was the backdrop for staging "A Mystical Tale with Pandora." Renowned director and playwright Floy Quintos, celebrated set and custom designer Gino Gonzalez and no less than the Philippine Ballet Theatre were tapped to interpret the fantasy-inspired Autumn Winter collection. The ballet story narrates the lead character- Pandora's journey in search of precious discoveries and valuable moments.

And speaking of moments, glad that I got the chance to enjoy this beautiful event with my blogger friends and to see and chat with a long time friend, LJ. :) You look great!

I only have praises for the 2014 Autumn/Winter collection of Pandora. :) I can't wait to collect charms and create my own unforgettable moments!:) Thank you for having me, Pandora Philippines!
